Chief Executive Magazine has named P&G the best overall company for leadership development in its list of the “40 Best Companies for Leaders,” a feature in its January/February 2012 issue. This is the second time we’ve received this award in the seven years this ranking has existed.
Chief Executive looks at a variety of criteria when choosing a best company: the existence of a formal development program; the amount of time a CEO is involved; the percentage of leaders recruited internally; the strength of its recruiting program and the caliber of talent; and the long-term growth of market capitalization. P&G excelled in these areas, and the details of this recognition are included in this story.
In addition to this recognition, in November P&G once again earned a top spot on Fortune Magazine’s list of Global Top Companies for Leaders. P&G has been in the top three for the last three consecutive years, and P&G has been in the top 10 for all five years we’ve participated in the study.
For Fortune’s list, an expert panel of independent judges selected and ranked winners based on criteria including strength of leadership practices and culture, examples of leader development on a global scale, impact of leadership in communities in which companies operate, business performance and company reputation. Companies that made the list also demonstrated an ability to focus on talent and developing leaders in a manner that is aligned with business goals. To see Fortune’s full story, click here.
